On any given day, her ministry is about serving the marginalised, both within her local community and in far-flung places. Whether it’s working on Project Ulemu, an initiative she helped to pioneer that focuses on improving access to education, sanitary wares, and toilets; or campaigning for freedom for those who suffer religious persecution; or creating awareness on domestic violence.
She is as capable of ministering as a keynote speaker to a full congregation at Guildford Cathedral, Surrey as she is leading Bible study in the village of Namirembe, Uganda.
Abby has a keen and curious mind which led her to obtain an MA in International Studies and Diplomacy from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.
More recently she was part of the research team for Different Women, Different Places, a groundbreaking study on the intersectionality of race and gender in the workplace. Abby also trained as a volunteer hospital chaplain at Croydon University Hospital, where she also served as a member of the Religious Subcommittee of the Hospital trust.
Abby is a trustee of the African Child Trust, a charity that supports widows, orphans, and other vulnerable children in over 8 countries. The charity has supported hundreds of children from the primary to tertiary level.
Abby also partners with the good people at GracetoGraces.org, which is a charity that actively supports women who have suffered domestic abuse.
All said and done, some of Abby’s favourite things to do include sitting on a worn leather seat in her local bookshop, sipping a chai tea, or rumbling through the woods.
