Gratitude means thanks and appreciation. Gratitude, which rhymes with “attitude,” comes from the Latin word gratus, which means “thankful, pleasing.” When you feel gratitude, you’re pleased by what someone did for you and also pleased by the results.
I’ve noticed with myself and others that we sometimes tend to look at our lives and ask ourselves how much progress have we made. And because we don’t see a really big difference we think we haven’t made progress but it’s not so. The little steps are still progress as long as you are moving in the right direction.
So, how do you cultivate that habit of gratitude:
- Keep a gratitude journal
- Take note of the little things that happen
- Say thank you
Here are some things to be grateful for:
1. Good health
2. Family and loved ones
3. Shelter
4. Friendships
Yes, there is still a possibility that there are other things to be grateful for. In this new year, cultivate the habit of gratitude. Gratitude to God, the people around you because God gave them to you, whatever way you have seen God’s love manifest in your life, choose to thank Him.
